Aims & Objectives
The initial aims of the Group included promoting good quality affordable housing over a range of tenure, focussing on a single set of housing policies, encouraging resident and tenant participation, and ensuring that the wants and needs of Shire residents are fed back to the Neighbourhood and Housing Executive. However, in practice these initial aims have been scaled back, and the projects listed below cover a more modest set of aims, based around the successful tenants drop-in sessions which have been organised.
Projects: short/medium term
· Will continue to expand and develop the Tenants Drop-in Meeting's- beginning with
the meeting in late January being open to all Shire Residents - not just focusing on those
living on the Ridge. We will continue to offer all residents an opportunity to attend
these meetings and speak directly to the Police, Local Councillors, BCC Area Housing
Office, Housing Associations in the area, and other services e.g. Severn Four Credit Union
· Also ongoing is encouraging tenants - as individuals or as a group - to take
training/attend seminars and learn new skills etc - primarily at present by attending PEP
Courses (specialist courses for residents/tenants involved in Tenants Association's etc).
There are funds available (from various sources) that cover the fees/costs of residents
attending these events.
Other projects will be undertaken as they arise.
